Decorate a Vase Workshop

Go bigger, get creative and design your very own Shaka-style ceramic vase.

Our Decorate a Vase Workshop takes everything people love about our signature mug workshop and gives you a much bigger canvas to work with.

You'll begin with a handmade vase body prepared for you in advance, then spend the session transforming it into a completely unique piece using the same decorating techniques we use in the Shaka studio.

Think stamps, textures, layered clay details, slip trailing, coral-inspired designs and plenty of room to make the piece completely your own.

No pottery experience is needed — we'll guide you through every stage.Booking with a friend?

What You'll Create

Your vase will be handmade and prepared for you before you arrive, giving you a beautiful blank canvas ready to decorate.

During the workshop you'll learn how to:

  1. Roll out clay ready for decorating

  2. Choose from our collection of Shaka cutters and stamps

  3. Cut, shape and attach your designs

  4. Build up layered clay details and embellishments

  5. Add texture and coral-inspired elements

  6. Learn slip trailing and other Shaka decorating techniques

  7. Refine and finish your design

  8. Choose your glaze colour

The session is completely open creatively, so you're welcome to work within any of our current Shaka design styles.

Keep it minimal or cover your vase from top to bottom — we'll help bring your ideas to life.

Perfect for Beginners

Never worked with clay before? You're absolutely welcome.

This workshop is designed to be beginner friendly and fully guided from start to finish.

We'll demonstrate each technique and be there throughout the session whenever you need a hand.
