Production Potter (Contract Role)

Shaka Pottery – Falcon, WA

Shaka Pottery is looking for an experienced production potter to join our studio on a contract basis, starting immediately.

Due to an upcoming elbow surgery, we’re seeking someone reliable and production-focused who can step in and help maintain our mug production during recovery. There is potential for an ongoing or full-time role for the right person once the contract period ends.


About the Role

You’ll be working independently in our Falcon studio, producing mugs to an established standard and workflow.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Throwing a minimum of 30 mugs per day

  • Trimming 30 mugs thrown previously

  • Working to consistent size, weight, and quality standards

  • Wedging clay and maintaining a clean, organised work area

  • Assisting with general studio tasks if required

All clay, tools, and equipment are supplied.


Schedule & Location

  • Location: Falcon, WA

  • Days: Mondays and Tuesdays preferred

  • Hours: Flexible — as long as daily production targets are met

  • Start: Immediate


Skill Level Required

This role suits an intermediate to advanced potter who:

  • Can confidently throw consistent mugs at a production pace

  • Is comfortable working solo and staying focused


Studio Environment

Please note:

  • You’ll be working in our home studio

  • We have young children, so awareness, respect, and professionalism are essential

  • We value a calm, tidy, and focused working style


Contract Details

  • Hourly rate (discussed with suitable applicants and be determined on skill level) Minimum rate starting at $40 per hour.

  • Contract runs through the duration of recovery

  • If both parties are keen, we’re open to discussing continued or expanded work after this period

  • You will need your own ABN
